The story behind Hakateq

Built in Uganda for businesses tired of patching operations together

Hakateq exists because too many growing organizations still run critical work on spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, paperwork, and disconnected tools. We build software that gives those teams room to operate professionally and scale with confidence.

The Founder

Why Hakateq, Why Uganda, Why SMEs

Founder & CTO, Hakateq Solutions

Growing up in Northern Uganda, I watched capable businesses struggle not because of bad ideas or lazy teams, but because their operations were held together with spreadsheets, WhatsApp messages, and paper records that nobody could search or trust.

I studied software engineering because I believed technology could close that gap. But when I started working, I kept seeing the same pattern: local businesses were either priced out of good software, or sold generic tools that never fit how they actually worked.

Hakateq started as a direct answer to that problem. Build software that fits the workflow, communicate clearly, price honestly, and stay around after launch. Not a template. Not a foreign vendor. A team that understands what it means to run a business in Uganda.

We focus on SMEs because that is where software creates the most visible change. When a 15-person team stops doing manual data entry and starts seeing real-time reports, the whole business moves differently. That is the outcome we are here to deliver.

Why Hakateq Exists

Hakateq was started to close a practical gap: many SMEs need custom software, but they are often forced to choose between expensive foreign vendors, generic templates, or disconnected off-the-shelf tools that never fit the way they actually work. We wanted to build a company that understands local realities, communicates clearly, and delivers software that earns its place inside a business.

Why We Focus On SMEs In Uganda

Smaller and mid-sized businesses often feel operational pain first. Staff do too much by hand, reporting is delayed, approvals are hard to track, and customers experience avoidable friction. That is exactly where thoughtful software can create outsized value. We care about that problem space because it is where technology can make a visible difference quickly.

Built with local context

We understand the realities of SMEs operating in Uganda: hybrid workflows, cash-sensitive decisions, and the need for software people can adopt quickly.

Led by problem solving

We are more interested in diagnosing the operational issue than selling a stack, language, or trend.

Focused on durable systems

The goal is not to launch something flashy and disappear. The goal is to leave the client with a system the business can depend on.

What We Stand For

Innovation

We bring fresh ideas to every project.

Trust

Transparent processes and clear communication.

Impact

Results matter more than features.

Efficiency

Saving you time, not just delivering code.

The Hakateq Difference

What clients should expect from the way we work

We focus on business outcomes, not just code

If a feature does not reduce friction, improve reporting, or help your team serve customers better, it should be questioned.

Clear process before commitment

We would rather scope carefully than promise quickly. Good custom software starts with shared understanding.

Custom solutions tailored to your workflow

No recycled package disguised as a strategy. We shape software around the process your team actually follows.

Responsive support every step of the way

From discovery through launch and iteration, communication stays direct so the project does not drift away from the business goal.
